The day we passed our class 4 was a day of mixed emotions. On one one hand our joys knew no bounds.. we were stepping into the coveted senior school... morning assemblies in the school auditorium , a junior school to envy us and ofcourse the SENIOR tag, but we dreaded being alotted to 5A, Mrs Ira Madan's class. The session change break was full of tension from morning to evening...It was not that I didnt like ma'am but she was very strict. I would unknowlingly pray that I be alotted to 5B or 5C..but luckily those prays went unheard for me. I got 5A and an opportunity to be a student of a wonderful teacher who taught us English , maths, drawing and singing with same ease. Yes I agree daily scoldings came with this package.. but those ended up to be the most memorable moments of school. But I still remember passing out of class 5 was so painful, we didnt want to leave her class..But we were a lucky batch when we reached class 7 , she became class teacher of 7A and as luck would have it I was in 7A.
Last night I was watching an interview with Lakshmi Mittal, the third richest person in the world. The interviewer was in full praise of this iconic rise from a poor Rajasthani village to the 500-crore worth house. It is a really praiseworthy and applaudable achievement. But what I wanted to know is what he has done for that village in Rajasthan. Indians have risen to high levels internationally .. but have they done their dues towards their homeland.
